Multiple Message Waiting Keys on one phone
« on: July 12, 2006, 03:53:34 PM »
Hi!

I need to be able to program two message waiting lights on a single digital phone. This will enable a secetary to have her own vmail and lamp, and also know when her boss has mail. It is not apprioprate to forward or autocopy the boss mail to the secetary in this instance.

When a MEW key is programmed there does not seem to be a way of entering any additional parameters, so this has me foxed.

Any ideas?

Hi

This is not possible. One MEW per DTS. Is the boss blind people? I don't see any reasonable reason to only indicate that there is MEW on other DTS that the one concern; or you duplicate the message in the 2 boxes.

I think this is perfectly reasonable and I have a customer who uses this facility on another phone system.

The secretary has a MW key so she can monitor her own VMail and one for her bosses extension so she can oversee and respond if necessary to his voicemail messages - exactly the same as many secretaries who review email messages in their bosses email inbox so that important ones can be responded to straight away when he is on busines trips etc.

Many companies operate in this old-fashioned way, the very fact that a customer asks for it means it is a reasonable request - and in this case it is - many other phone systems allow this.

Regards
Si

Sibell, Thanks for your comments, you're dead right, it is a feature users want!

However it is clear that we can't have multiple MEW lamps, so we have fixed this by getting the boss mailbox to notify the sec via a phone call. The lamps light as before, sec is very happy.

Thanks for all your help.

Cheers
