KXTD 816/1232 with USB to Serial?

Hi

Has anybody got a usb to serial lead to programme  a kxtd 1232 or 816? Ihave a laptop and the KXTD software but no serial connection on my laptop for the rs232.  If   you dont use usb what is the solution?

Any help would be much appreciated

i had around 10 usb to serial adaptors before i got one to work correctly,  it is unbranded from china via eBay.

I have never had any real luck with USB to Serial.
Hence why I keep programming laptops with serial port.
Wire telegraph is a kind of a very, very long cat. You pull his tail in New York and his head is meowing in Los Angeles. And radio operates exactly the same way: you send signals here, they receive them there. The only difference is there is no cat.

I use a prolific usb to serial and it has worked ok for me so far ;)

I also have a USB to serial which works fine, manufactured by "Bandridge"

I have found the "Keyspan USA-19HS" usb to serial adaptor to be very reliable and we all use them now where i work and never had any problem talking any system no matter what make it is using one.
